Violence against women and girls is a major health and human right concern. They experience physical and mental abuse throughout their life cycle, beginning while inside the womb. The statistics showcase that the prevalence of sex selective abortion is growing among all classes, both in urban and rural locales. The data shows that the sex ratio of Uttar Pradesh turned down by 36 points as compared to the census 2001. Vatsalya since its inception has been working ardently on the issue of female foeticide and implementation of PC-PNDT Act. ‘Let Girls Be Born’ is a new shackle added to the chain of efforts Vatsalya has made to curb the male practice of female foeticide.
