In the heart of the Madiyaon slum community, a 26-year-old woman named Mausami embarked on a transformative journey, driven by love and responsibility for her family. Living with her husband and a 2-year-old baby boy, Mausami faced unique challenges as her child was born with a cleft lip, requiring special care and attention.

Mausami, determined to provide the best for her family, made a conscious decision not to have another child soon. During a routine home visit, she told Vatsalya coordinator Stuti about her uncertainty regarding family planning methods. Relying solely on her husband's self-control, she felt the need for a more reliable and informed approach.

Acknowledging Mausami's wisdom, Stuti took on the role of a guide, providing accurate information on various family planning methods. This empowered Mausami to make an informed decision that aligned with her aspirations for her family's well-being.

Opting for oral contraceptive pills (OCP) as her preferred method, Mausami took a significant step toward her family planning goals. Stuti accompanied her to the Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) for a medical eligibility check, a crucial step for someone new to contraceptive use. The ANM, along with Stuti, ensured Mausami received comprehensive information on the proper use of OCP.

As the days went by, Mausami embraced her decision with open arms. During a follow-up visit, she expressed her happiness and relief. No longer dependent solely on her husband's self-control, she could now take charge of her reproductive health. This newfound autonomy allowed her to focus on caring for her child without the constant fear of an unplanned pregnancy.

Mausami's success story is an exemplification of the transformative power of informed decision-making and access to accurate information on family planning. By taking control of her reproductive health, Mausami not only safeguarded the future of her family but also paved the way for other women in her community to make empowered choices. Her journey stands as an inspiration, illustrating the positive impact that knowledge and support can have on the lives of women in underserved communities.
